Plotting with Color Book's Color to Monochrome or Grayscale
toxicsquall posted a topic in AutoCAD Drawing Management & Output
I'm trying to plot one of my drawings to grayscale or monochrome style, but my lines and 3d polylines are colored with a color from a color book. When I try to plot, it will plot with the real color, even if I chose the Monochrome or Grayscale plot style. What can I do? (╥﹏╥)- 5 replies

I was working in LT 2014, everything running just fine since we got this version. Then last night I went to plot to a pdf using "monochrome" like I always have, and now it says "monochrome.ctb (missing)". It's the weirdest thing since it worked literally 5 mins before hand. I went thru the autocad help, but nothing seems to help and the "plot styles" menu selection is greyed out. I looked thru the folders and all the .ctb files seem to be in the correct spot. Any idea why this would happen, and how to fix it? TIA.

Color to monochrome issue when plotting in paperspace (CAD 2011)
EJMpurdue posted a topic in AutoCAD Drawing Management & Output
Hello, I'm a newbie to the forum, but have been using CAD for quite some time. I usually plot drawings directly from model space since they don't have to be professional or have title blocks for my job. I guess I have gotten a little rusty at paper space and now I am having a color plotting issue that I am determined to figure out one way or another. My layer colors show up correctly in paper space, but as soon as I do a plot (to pdf or to the printer), everything, other than the raster images I have in the title block become monochrome. I have tried changing the plot styles, even going so far as to set up a new one that seemed like it should have worked, but I'm stumped. I don't know if this is providing enough information, so please feel free to ask additional questions if I need to be more specific about something! Any help is much appreciated!- 4 replies

How do i plot using the greyscare but leaving a color block unaffected by this ?
n19llw posted a topic in AutoCAD Beginners' Area
Hi, Ive been given a block to attach to my drawings (text with color) to as built drawings and print. However when print this is affected by the grey scale and plots with no color. Im scared to try messing about to much incase i make things worse. I see tutorials online on changing layers etc but nothing for a block Simply my question is how to stop this block being affected by greyscale with the least amout of editing. I know this is proberably very easy but im just afraid to do more damage than good. Many thanks for your help -
If I use our stb to plot to our printer, the print looks right. If I plot it using “DWG To PDF.pc3” the lines are lighter. Any suggestions? I can switch to using ctb's instead.

How do I add a .ctb file to 2013 Mac
Retroshank posted a topic in AutoCAD Drawing Management & Output
Hi, I have been using AutoCAD windows for 15 years but recently purchased AutoCAD Lt 2013 for Mac. I am doing some contract work for a company who have their own plot style (ctb file) that I need to use. I can't work out how to insert it into the Mac version. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks -
Hi everyone, I'm trying to write a code that will 1) set the current plot style to "BCR Plot Style.stb" 2) change all layer properties to plot style "Grayscale" I had this working at one point, but can't get it to work when I reopen, so it may just be a problem with how I'm loading the routine. I've added it to LISP files under CUI and to my APPLOAD startup suite. (defun c:grayscale () (vl-load-com) (vla-put-StyleSheet (vla-get-ActiveLayout (vla-get-ActiveDocument (vlax-get-acad-object)) ) "BCR Plot Style.stb" ) (setq layers (vla-get-layers (vla-get-ActiveDocument (vlax-get-acad-object)) ) ) (vlax-for l layers (progn (vla-put-plotstylename l "Grayscale") ) ) ) Help is greatly appreciated!

Hi, I need a lisp routine to change the plot style of blocks in my drawing to 'bylayer' rather than the selected plot styles that they have been put on when they were created (by others). I would really appreciate if anyone had a lisp routine that would do this easily as there are many blocks in my drawings that need to be changed and going through the block editor is very time consuming. I have a lisp routine that can change the colour to one of my choosing but as I am not very good at lisp I do not know how to edit it to do the plot style rather than colour. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Plot style table (pen assignments) not working
NoelStalker posted a topic in AutoCAD Drawing Management & Output
I've edited the plot style table in the past to do things such as change yellow to print black. I've also successfully used it to select monochrome to print B&W. Currently it's not working. I can select a different plot style, apply it and see it look correct in paperspace. However, when I preview or print it, I still get yellow, printing yellow or if I try monochrome, it will still print in color. I make sure to click apply to layout and I've also tried restarting ACAD and neither seems to help. I've also tried using the page setup manager and it still prints differently than what I select. Is there some other variable I can turn on or off that I am not aware of?- 3 replies

Hi everyone, I've been trying to edit the way some of our jobs print, we need them in black and white, with the exception of 4 colours. Using the plot styles manager I have managed to do this by turning all other colours to grayscale, while keeping the colours we want to print in colour assigned to their object colour. HOWEVER, when we printed it like this, our company logo on the paper space also printed in black (this made it come out as think black box on the page) The logo is made up of the following colours: 134,148,175 101,121,154 46,91,130 205,205,205 I tried to add these colours as individual styles in the "plot style table editor" however the buttons for "add style" and "delete style" are blanked out so cannot use them. I just wondered why this is, and if anyone can help me add these colours? The only way around it I've found so far is to change the colour of one of the 'standard' colours to the specific colours above: e.g; Change colour 2 in the Plot Style Table Editor, to have a colour of 134,148,175 and then turn the grayscaling off for that plot style. Although then if I have a layer with this colour assigned, they all print the wrong colour! Hoping someone could help me out here! Thanks a lot Rob

Hello everyone, I've just started working in a drawing that has some strange plotstyle happenings... I was emailed the drawing, and it is in metric, and I don't have any info from the person who created it.. When I go to edit the current plotstyle or to create a new one I am not able to change anything. The list of colors does not show up, only the list of plotstyle names where the colors usually are. (nothing happens when I click on them) I opened a new document and do not have this problem. Any ideas if there's a setting somewhere that's preventing me from editing plotstyles? (the plot with plotstyles box IS checked, as is the radio button to use color dependent plotstyles. Thanks for your help! -K

I'm not 100% confident this is where this post/question should go. Where I work we have a number of departments, and each of these departments has different plot styles. They are all stored in the one location of the network drive, and are occasionally updated by the CAD managers. Because I only use 2 or 3 of the list of 15 or so plot styles, is there a way to limit my installation to only listing those plot styles that I use regularly? I'm running AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011.
